Description
While some young children love to draw, others find it frustrating. This super simple set of fall directed drawing and writing activities gives all students the chance to feel successful at art!
Each of the six directed drawings (acorn, oak leaf, football, turkey, owl, and pumpkin) is very simple and includes just a few steps. As students become more confident in their drawing ability, these prompts can become springboards for their creativity, as they add detail, color, and their own flair.
In addition to the drawing directions, this set includes corresponding activities.
Here’s what you’ll find in this Fall Directed Drawing & Writing Center!
This simple center includes materials to support drawing and writing in the primary grades. Inside, you’ll find:
▶️ Directed Drawing Strips
Print these on cardstock, laminate and cut them out, and place them in a center with drawing/writing paper.
▶️ Draw & Wipe Mats
Print these mats and place them in write and wipe sleeves (or laminate them). Students can use these for drawing practice.
▶️ Writing & Drawing Stationery
A template for each drawing is included in four formats – no lines, two lines, multiple handwriting lines, and multiple solid lines. These pages give students the opportunity to draw, add detail and color, and write about their drawings.
▶️ Practice Pages
Great for morning work, these pages include space for drawing and writing and can be printed back-to-back with the included thematic counting pages.
How to Use These Fall Directed Drawing and Writing Materials
Perfect for an independent literacy center, students enjoy completing these prompts independently. Provide the directed drawing strips and stationery along with writing and coloring utensils (crayons, colored pencils, etc.). Give students instructions as to your expectations for how many drawings they should (or may) complete within their time at the center.
You may wish to place the draw & wipe mats at the center as well. Students can use these to practice following the drawing steps before they begin working on their papers. Additionally, the draw & wipe mats can be used as an early finisher activity—they take almost no time to clean up!
The practice pages can be used for morning work, homework, or any time you need a simple paper/pencil activity!
