How do I assemble these life cycle books?
When printed double-sided, each mini-book requires only one sheet of paper. Assembly requires scissors and a stapler but is very simple. Just cut the page in half horizontally, slide the top half behind the bottom half, and fold both pieces in half. Secure with stapes and the book is ready to go!
What skills and concepts will my students gain by using these life cycle books?
When using these books, students practice:
✔ print concepts
✔ science ideas
How can I use these books with my students?
Because these books are not entirely decodable and use vocabulary that may be difficult for some students to read independently, these books are great to read with students initially. Each book has a simple interactive element on the final page. Examples of this include vocabulary and handwriting practice and comprehension components. After reading the book with a teacher, students can complete the interactive feature, color the book, and re-read independently.
These books also make a wonderful home connection. Students can read their books with caregivers as a way to share what they’re learning about at school.
