How can I use these Write the Room recording sheets and word cards?
When introducing this write the room activity, first, draw students’ attention to the variety of print displayed in your classroom. Solicit their help in pointing out anchor charts you may have worked on together, labeled posters, big books, and name tags. Starting with the general Write the Room 1/2-page recording sheet, encourage students to search for words they recognize, coping them onto their page. Once students understand the concept, move on to recording sheets that ask students to find words within specific categories.
Along with a clipboard and a pencil, these recording sheets make a simple center that can be enjoyed again and again!
