Description

When teaching 2D and 3D shapes in kindergarten, it’s so important to provide lots of hands-on practice. This set of kindergarten math centers includes 10 engaging geometry station activities to teach about flat and solid shapes, as well as positional words. Designed for independence, these 2D and 3D shapes activities help you cover your kindergarten geometry standards by exposing your students to the attributes of two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes and giving them lots of opportunities for exploration!

This set is included in a money-saving kindergarten math centers bundle!

These Kindergarten Math Centers Include:

This set contains ten printable math centers. Each center includes:

✔ Teacher Directions (with differentiation ideas)
✔ Student Directions Card (with pictures and “I can” statements)
✔ Illustrated Label (for organization)
✔ Recording Sheets (for accountability, follow-up, assessment, or enrichment)
✔ Printable Task Cards and/or Game Pieces (in color and black and white)

The centers in this set include both 2D and 3D shapes and are designed to cover shape names and attributes, shapes in the real world, modeling shapes, and using positional words. The following shapes are included: circle, square, rectangle, triangle, hexagon, rhombus, parallelogram, trapezoid, oval, cone, cube, sphere, cylinder, pyramid, and rectangular prism. (Note that every center activity does not include all 15 shapes and that, in many cases, you can exclude the shapes that you are not covering.)

How to Use These Geometry Centers:

To get these kindergarten geometry centers up and running you will need to gather a few basic supplies (listed below), do some printing and laminating, and spend a little time teaching your students how to engage with the activities.

These shapes activities are flexible and should work with however you operate your math station time. Some of the activities have partner-play options (but all can also be used by individual students). If you teach math in a small-group format, you may wish to introduce these geometry activities in your groups. Since many kindergarten geometry standards expect students to master vocabulary, a verbal component is important. Having a teacher or helper encourage students to use shape names and positional words correctly as they play can really help students become skilled at talking about math!
