What’s Included in This Geoboard Task Cards Set?

This set includes task cards for the numbers 0-20 and for nine basic shapes (square, triangle, rectangle, hexagon, pentagon, octagon, rhombus, parallelogram, and trapezoid). The cards, which feature 5 x 5 peg boards, show designs for students to replicate on their own geoboards. Designed to be laminated and used with dry-erase markers, these cards incorporate handwriting and shape drawing practice.

For best results, teachers should provide rubber bands in a variety of sizes when setting up this center. I have found it helpful to include very small rubber bands like those designed for hair or a “Rainbow Loom” along with standard rubber bands.

The entire set of cards is included in color and in black and white. You will also find recording sheets for both shapes and numbers, which are useful for accountability, particularly if you opt not to use the “write and wipe” feature.

How Can I Use These Task Cards With My Class?

These geoboard task cards are a natural addition to math centers during your geometry unit. They can also be used year-round as a morning tub, early finisher activity, or even during indoor recess! These cards will bring new life to your classroom geoboards.

Encourage your students to think beyond the design templates on these cards. After they have mastered transferring a design onto their geoboard, they may become spurred to think of different ways to portray numbers and shapes on their geoboards.
