Description

These printable nonfiction apple books give students the opportunity to practice print concepts while exploring facts about apples! With three topics each included in three levels, these informational apple readers allow you to integrate science and literacy during your apple theme.

What’s included in this differentiated apple books set?

This set of nonfiction apple books includes printable booklets written at three different levels about three apple topics.

Here’s what’s included:

✔ “Apple Treats”
Read about foods that are made from apples.

✔ “Apple Parts”
Learn about the parts of an apple.

✔ “An Apple Grows”
Explore the life cycle of apples.

Each book has a symbol on the front cover to indicate the level of the book:

one triangle = One short sentence per page, repetitive text
two triangles = One sentence per page, varied sentence structure, more high-frequency words
three triangles = One or two sentences per page, more complicated concepts and vocabulary

How do I use these apple books?

When printed double-sided, each apples mini-book requires only one sheet of paper. Assembly requires scissors and a stapler but is very simple. Just cut the page in half horizontally, slide the top half behind the bottom half, and fold both pieces in half. Secure with stapes and the book is ready to go!

One way to use these apple readers with your young learners is to introduce the books in a small group. Have the students look through the pictures and make connections to their experiences and learning in class. Discuss print concepts and nonfiction text features. Work through the text with your group, talk about any new information students learned about apples, and then have students color and complete the interactive activity on the final page independently as a follow-up activity.

Students can store these apple books with other books they can read independently or can bring them home to share with family members! These are a great tool for children to use when telling their parents all about apples!
