Description
This set includes three digital reindeer activities that are each pre-loaded into three different learning platforms. Each activity includes a short nonfiction ebook (read-aloud) followed by interactive comprehension activities. A great addition to your December science curriculum, these digital reindeer activities can be used in classrooms that celebrate Christmas and those that do not. The three reindeer topics are: “How Reindeer Grow,” “A Reindeer’s Habitat,” and “Reindeer Adaptations.”
After you purchase this resource, you will download a PDF that includes links to access each of these resources in Boom Learning, Google Slides, and Seesaw*. This way, if you change platforms in the future, you’ll be all set!
What’s Included in this Digital Reindeer Activities Set:
How Reindeer Grow: This activity includes a short nonfiction e-book about the life cycle of reindeer. The book is in video form in Seesaw and Google Slides and is in slide form in Boom Learning. After students listen to the book, they will complete three interactive activities: a simple sequencing drag-and-drop slide, a life cycle puzzle, and a picture sort (out of six illustrations, children choose the four that are true of reindeer calves).
A Reindeer’s Habitat: This activity includes a short informational e-book about the arctic habitat of reindeer followed by three drag-and-drop activities. The interactive activities include completing a reindeer habitat scene, creating a chart that shows what reindeer eat, and sorting photos to find those that represent a reindeer’s habitat.
Reindeer Adaptations: This activity includes an informational e-book about four adaptations of reindeer (antlers, vision, coat, and hooves). Following the book are three interactive slides with comprehension activities. In the first activity, students complete a simple reindeer puzzle. The second and third slides have students look at photographs of reindeer scenes and choose which adaptations come into play in those situations.
All activities include audio directions.
The Seesaw versions of each of the activities also contain an open-ended drawing slide at the end where students draw based on a simple prompt and use the recording feature to tell about their picture.
*This resource is pre-loaded into Seesaw for teacher convenience. My Happy Place is not affiliated with Seesaw.
