Description
Perfect for your Valentine’s Day party, a friendship theme, or fun Fridays throughout February, this Valentine’s Day subitizing bingo game is a great way to build number sense! Practice subitizing (or quickly identifying a quantity) the numbers 1-20 with three different versions of bingo boards. This set includes both printable and digital calling cards and can be used with your whole class or a small group.
What’s included in this Valentine’s Day Bingo set?
Here’s what’s inside:
❤️ Three versions of bingo boards
You’ll find 30 unique cards for each version.
▶️ Numbers 1-20
▶️ Numbers 1-10
▶️ Numbers 11-20
❤️ 60 printable calling cards
The calling cards, like subitizing dot cards, contain Valentine-themed images in quantities from one to 20. The teen numbers use ten frames to organize the images.
❤️ 3 sets of digital calling cards (in Google Slides)
The slideshows correspond with the bingo boards, with one link for each range of numbers. You’ll save the slides to your own Google Drive. These are great to project or digitally display in your classroom.
The printable materials are all included in both color and black and white versions.
How can I use this Valentine’s Day Bingo set with my class?
Fun for parties or whole-class or small-group number sense practice, these subitizing bingo cards provide students with practice at quickly counting sets of objects between 1 and 20.
Choose the number range that you would like your students to practice. Print enough of the corresponding boards (1-20, 1-10, or 11-20) for your students to each have one. Locate small manipulatives to use as markers (or cut construction paper into 1” squares). Laminate the cards if you would like to be able to use them year after year. If you will be using the printable calling cards, print those onto cardstock and cut them apart.
Display one subitizing calling card at a time. Have the students find the matching numeral on their card and place a marker on it. The numbers are repeated on the boards and in the calling cards. Have the students cover one instance of the number each time that number is “called” (unless you are in a hurry, in which case, have them cover all instances). For best results, give students a moment to process the image, then have them call it out. This will help struggling students keep up. Circulate as students cover numbers to check for accuracy. Teach students to call out “Bingo!” when they have a completely covered row.
How will I access the digital Valentine’s Day bingo calling cards?
The download PDF includes links to three Google Slides files. The calling card files correspond with the three styles of bingo board. Each includes three subitizing images of each number within the range (in random order).
To use the digital version of the calling cards, you will need a (free) Google account and access to Google Slides. When you click each link, you will be prompted to make a copy of a Valentine Subitizing file. This will allow you to store and use the file without editing the original file.
